Local Runner Russell Wenz Takes on the Dreadmill Challenge

Local Russell Wenz is really known for his love of running. Regardless of the weather, he finds time in his schedule and encourages others to run alongside him every single week. Known for choosing area state parks or a local route that ends at Dubious Claims, Russell took on something a little different this week after a 100 mile race near Omaha was cancelled. Instead, he attempted the Dreadmill Challenge, which was to run 100 miles in 48 hours on a treadmill! He took on the challenge at the Excelsior Springs Community Center and inspired many to give donations to the Good Samaritan Center!

Many were inspired by his journey and stopped by to drop donations or even run alongside him! Check out how it all played out below:

At the end of the two days, Russell was able to raise $2,000 for the Good Samaritan Center! He said the generosity of the community is what kept him going at the end. That the challenge took on new meaning as more people got involved. This just shows that all it takes is one person to try something new and truly make a difference! Congratulations, Russell!
